A love of good, carefully prepared food was one of the reasons life was breathed into the entrepreneurial dream of "Præstegaarden Jyderup". The old parsonage was bought, and we began delivering food away from the house.

Today the passion for good food is exactly the same – we want to make an effort and make good decisions when choosing producers and partners. Everything we make on the farm should be products we would eat or take home ourselves, and that is how it will continue to be – even if it is not always the easiest path, nor the cheapest.

Over the years we have built a strong network of partners, many of them local, and we love it. We know each other and share a passion for quality and honest products.

The seasons play an incredibly large and important role in everything we do. In the farm restaurant and the farm bakery the menu changes, as do the cakes we bake. Drawing on the Zealand "larder" gives us inspiration, variety and great pride. We have many skilled producers around us, and whenever at all possible, they are factored into everything we can.

Bread baked with local flour, steaks supplied by our skilled butcher, eggs from the area's hens, sausages from the nearby estate – all of this and much, much more helps ensure that we can serve tasty food in the restaurant and bake delicious bread for the bakery.

On every opening day we have been up early to bake bread, to boil chicken for the chicken salad and to bread fish fillets ready for the pan when you order in the restaurant.

Mayo, pesto, compote, jam and cordial – the little kitchen is very busy indeed. When holidays such as Easter and Christmas approach, you can be quite sure we have brought out the old recipe for homemade æbleskiver and soft honey cakes, just as we continue to develop our own cakes, for example the Easter cake with a nut base, elderflower mousse and rhubarb compote. Do drop by and see what we have come up with in both restaurant and bakery.

Rye bread, sourdough rolls, cakes, preserves, flødeboller, spiced nuts, selected cheeses and more can be bought to take home.

Depending on the season, we recommend popping into the Vegetable Stall before you leave. Lasse tries to find seasonal vegetables that you can take home – for the food in the holiday house, or wherever you are heading. Naturally, some months are more generous than others. But come in and see the selection.
